Festivals

Take in a festival every week of the month. Start out at the Carlsbad Village Faire on May 7th, where the kids will love the super slide, bounce, house, and rock climbing wall. Then get your tasting tickets for the annual Chocolate Festival at the San Diego Botanic Garden on May 13th. If chocolate isn’t your forte, take the family to SEES Country Fair May 12th -13th. Your fun continues the weekend of May 20th and 21st at the Fiesta del Sol Solana Beach, where kids can get their faces painted and enjoy music, dancing, and art. On May 27th, head out to the Escondido Grand Avenue Festival, to enjoy live entertainment as you browse aisles filled with arts, crafts, farm-fresh good, and international foods.

Arts and Crafts

The Carlsbad Village Street Faire has something for everyone with arts and crafts, trendy clothing, and international foods on May 7th. Show kids where the community meets art on the fourth Thursday of the month with a Carlsbad Village Art Walk. Let the kids immerse themselves in art at an art camp at Martin Fine Art Classes. You’ll find an entire weekend of rides, shows, and activities at Legoland in Carlsbad.

Outdoor activities

Spring is a beautiful time of year for a trail ride on horseback through Peñasquitos Canyon Preserve at Fairmont Grand Del Mar. Your children will surely enjoy digging into the earth at the Coastal Roots Farm in Encinitas, where every second Sunday is Family Day. Animal lovers will enjoy swimming and intermingling with animals at Valley Center based Nurtured by Nature. If you’re up for an exciting adventure, try the zipline at La Jolla Zip Zoom.
