Outdoor Activities

Friday nights are also a good time to check out the cruisin’ car shows at Cruisin’ Grand Escondido where you can check out the cars and enjoy great summer music and food.

Put on your hiking shoes and take a trip around the Carlsbad Trails for a rugged unpaved adventure or a leisurely scenic walk. Get the kids involved with volunteering by helping maintain the trails on the second Saturday of the month.

Explore more of North County’s natural beauty at the San Diego Botanic Garden or Batiquitos Lagoon, or let the kids explore history at the Leo Castillo Ranch Historic Park.

Music and Movies

The TGIF Jazz in the Parks series entertains the crowds with fun concerts by local bands every Friday evening through the middle of August, in Carlsbad’s Poinsettia Park. Kids will enjoy a hands-on art project every second concert of the month. Pack up a dinner basket on Thursday nights, starting in July, and take in a move under the stars in Carlsbad Village for Flicks at the Fountain. Set up some chairs and enjoy chatting with your neighbors starting at 6pm before the movie starts at dusk.

Holiday Events

Take the whole family to see Our Only Hope, which is a free patriotic musical on Sunday July 2, at Carlsbad Community Church. Put on your red, white and blue and head out to Bradley Park in San Marcos for the annual Independence Day celebration and fireworks where you will enjoy the carnival and entertainment.
