Susan Gehrig, Ph.D. is a child psychologist and co-founder of Paradox Psychological Services. Her professional training and expertise are in child development, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, and psycho-educational testing. Dr. Gehrig’s passion is in fostering positivity and self-awareness in individuals, and she aspires to develop academic and personal plans for success through family and school collaboration.
Dr. Gehrig earned a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and a Master’s of Science in Clinical Psychology from Palo Alto University. Her predoctoral internship was completed at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital in Oakland, CA (APPIC Accredited) in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Pediatrics Clinic. She continued her training in neurodevelopment during her postdoctoral residency at Kaiser Permanente, Autism Spectrum Disorder Center in San Jose (APA Accredited).
Dr. Gehrig was born and raised in California. After completing graduate school in Northern California, she moved to be closer to family in the San Diego area. If she is not at her office in Carlsbad or seeing clients in the community, Dr. Gehrig can be found hiking the many local trails with her pup, Chewy, or dining in North County’s flavorful restaurants with family and friends.

Dr. Gehrig is involved in the psychological professional community and is a member of the San Diego Psychological Association and the California Psychological Association. She completes psychological testing at the San Diego Regional Center for individuals with special needs and provides psychoeducational evaluations for local school districts.
