Patrick Savaiano, PsyD co-founded Paradox Psychological Services in 2014 to bring mindfulness and compassion-based mental health services to the community he now calls home. He is a clinical psychologist who specializes in counseling for young adults and mindfulness-based interventions for depression, anxiety, and stress reduction. Dr. Savaiano currently works as a staff psychologist at UC San Diego, Counseling and Psychological Services.
In 2004, Dr. Savaiano graduated from the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, IN. He went on to receive a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Adler University in Chicago, IL. He completed his postdoctoral residency at Kaiser Permanente, Adult Psychiatry in Santa Clara, CA (Accredited by the American Psychological Association). Prior to that, at San Jose State University, Counseling and Psychological Services (APA Accredited) he completed his predotctoral internship.
Born and raised in Chicago, Dr. Savaiano feels a strong connection to diversity and has worked closely with individuals from all walks of life. While he misses family, friends, and the great city of Chicago, Dr. Savaiano always felt drawn to the West Coast and, in 2012, he moved to the great state of California. He feels a strong connection to the rich cultural diversity of Southern CA, and he has been fortunate to finally settle into North San Diego County. He truly loves the ocean, hills, and hiking trails and feels lucky to be surrounded by nature, no longer having to shovel snow in the winter.
Professional Community Member
After moving to the San Diego area, Patrick Savaiano, PsyD immediately became involved in the professional community and was elected as a Board Member of the San Diego Psychological Association. In addition, he is a member of the California Psychological Association. His hope is to bring together a multi-disciplinary team of health providers to promote the wellbeing of the residents of North County.
