Dr. Mae Casanova is a clinical psychologist specializing in child and teen therapy. She creates a safe, yet accountable environment where clients feel heard, validated, and challenged. Through personal experiences, as well as her work with great therapists, her passion has been fostered for supporting children and teens with eclectic backgrounds. She is a firm believer in every challenge being an opportunity for growth. Her “outside the box” approach allows for successful and long lasting change in kids’ behaviors, attitudes, and relationships. Additionally, Dr. Casanova has expertise in academic accommodations and supports. Her therapy style is informed by empirically supported interventions, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
Dr. Casanova obtained her Doctorate Degree in Clinical Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology in Irvine, CA and her Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks. Her doctoral internship was completed at Casa Palmera Care Center. Her post-doctoral training was completed at San Diego Center for Children, North County Academy, where she continues to work with children and teens.
Mae enjoys spending her weekends and free time practicing yoga, exercising, and relaxing with family and friends at the many in San Diego County restaurants and cafes.
